Terms and Conditions of Use
1. Purpose
These terms and conditions describe the rules for using the website https://the-gate.fr (hereinafter “the Site”) and the g8 mobile app, “The Gate” (hereinafter “the App”), as well as the terms for subscribing to and participating in the “Early Bat” program. All of these services are hereinafter referred to as “the Services.”
By accessing the Services, we assume that you accept the terms and conditions set forth below. They are effective as of July 5, 2026, and replace the previous version in effect since January 1, 2026. Any updates will be posted on this page with a note indicating the date of the last revision. Users of the service (hereinafter “Users”) are advised to review the Terms of Service regularly to stay informed of any revisions.
2. Legal Notice
The website https://the-gate.fr and the mobile app g8 (“The Gate”) are operated by the sole proprietorship “Petit Rhino” (hereinafter “the Publisher”), registered with the Paris Trade and Companies Register under No. 835 345 158 00025, with its registered office in Gaillac (81600), and can be contacted at the following email address: contact@the-gate.fr.
The website is hosted on a server located in France and provided by Hostinger International Ltd, whose registered office is located at 61 Lordou Vironos Street, 6023 Larnaca, Cyprus, and can be contacted at: https://www.hostinger.fr/contact.
The services associated with the App (account management, authentication, subscriptions) are hosted on the subdomain https://api.the-gate.fr, on a virtual private server (VPS) located in France and administered directly by the Publisher via the YunoHost distribution (Debian 12).
The mobile app is available on Android via Google Play and on F-Droid.
3. Free Services
Use of the App is free and includes unrestricted access to all basic features. In particular, the App allows you to:
Create transactional documents (delivery slips, invoices, credit memos)
Send these documents through other applications (email clients or social media)
Convert delivery slips into invoices.
The Site is free to use and offers, among other things, advice on how to properly draft transactional documents, as well as links to sign up for subscriptions.
3.1. “Early Bat” Program (completed)
The “Early Bat” program (early access, forum badge, free desktop app for one year) was a free program for organic producers who wanted to test the app. Registration closed in June 2026. The promised benefits will still be provided to selected participants, subject to their commitment to provide active feedback on the app.
4. Subscriptions
In addition to the free features, the App offers two premium subscription plans (hereinafter “the Subscriptions” or “the Subscription”) that provide access to the same premium features (including export to
the Factur-X format):
g8 Fly ⭐ — standard plan;
g8 Fab 🌟 — enhanced support plan, helps accelerate the development of future features.
Both plans are available on a monthly or annual plans. The applicable rates are displayed on the page https://the-gate.fr/premium as well as during the checkout process.
They may vary depending on the User’s country of residence. The exact price in your currency will be provided before you confirm payment.
Solidarity Rate for Organic Producers: Organic producers can receive a discounted rate by writing to contact@the-gate.fr from the email address used in the App.
The Publisher may request proof (certification number, screenshot of the Ecocert certificate, etc.). This plan is not available for self-service purchase.
Subscriptions are optional, with no commitment, and can be canceled at any time.
5. Subscription Terms and Conditions
5.1. Subscription and Payment
Subscriptions are purchased and paid for exclusively through the Site, using Stripe, a certified and secure online payment provider. The payment process (entering credit card information, 3D Secure, confirmation) is entirely hosted by Stripe—the Publisher never sees, handles, or stores the Subscriber’s credit card information.
Subscription fees are charged:
Monthly, on the anniversary date of the initial subscription, for monthly plans;
Annually, on the anniversary date of the initial subscription, for annual plans.
Renewal is automatic and tacit unless the Subscription is canceled.
5.2. Stripe Customer Portal
Subscribers can access their Stripe customer portal at any time:
- From the app: Click the “Manage My Subscription” button on the My Account screen. A secure, authenticated session will open automatically.
- From a browser: https://billing.stripe.com/p/login/9AQ5oe5mr7tT7m0bII — simply enter the email address used when signing up to receive a login link via email.
On their customer portal, Subscribers can:
View and update their payment method;
View and update their billing information;
View their billing history;
Download invoices and receipts related to their payments;
Change their plan (g8 Fly ↔ g8 Fab, monthly ↔ annual);
Cancel their subscription.
5.3. Plan Changes and Termination
Subscribers may change their plan or cancel their subscription at any time. Changes and cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period (no prorated charges; no billing for the following month or year).
5.4. Automatic emails related to the subscription
Stripe and the Publisher send a number of automated emails:
Subscription confirmation (sent by the Publisher upon the first subscription): contains a magic link to access the App;
Receipts for each payment, sent by Stripe;
Payment failure alert: in the event of a failed payment (declined card, spending limit reached, etc.), the Subscriber is notified by email and has 15 days to resolve the issue before the Subscription is automatically canceled;
Card expiration alert: for credit cards nearing expiration, the Subscriber receives an informational email 1 month before the expiration date.
5.5. Termination of the Subscription
Upon termination or non-renewal of the Subscription, access to premium features is disabled. Data created in the App (invoices, customers, products) remains the property of the User and remains accessible on their phone (see Section 10).
All Subscriptions are non-transferable and non-refundable. Subscribers will not receive any refunds for unused services.
6. User Responsibilities
Data Loss or Alteration: Since the Application does not currently support cloud data synchronization, it is the User’s responsibility to keep a copy of any documents created or sent to third parties. In the event of loss, inaccessibility, or theft of the User’s cell phone, the data and documents stored in the Application will be lost. It is also the User’s responsibility to ensure that no unintentional or irreversible changes are made to their administrative documents or data.
Data Accuracy: It is the User’s responsibility to verify the accuracy of all data they generate and the compliance of the documents produced, including verifying the results of calculations performed automatically by the Application.
Legal Obligations: The User must comply with all legal obligations regarding the documents they produce, including, but not limited to, the legal notices that must appear on invoices.
Content: “Content” refers to materials of any kind (documents, text, images, videos, etc.) shared by a User. The User is solely responsible for the Content they publish via the Services, whether through the Application (to their clients, for example) or the forum (to other community members). They must ensure, on the one hand, that this content is suitable for them (in cases where the Application provides default content) and, on the other hand, that they have
7. Publisher's Responsibilities
Service Provider: The Publisher acts as a service provider by making available an Application that, among other things, allows users to create transactional documents and send them via email or social media. The Publisher does not intervene in any way in communications between the User and their customers or other third parties. The Publisher accepts no liability for any direct or indirect losses, such as loss of profit, loss of business, costs, expenses, or any other form of economic loss related to our Services or the provision of our Services. The Publisher cannot be held liable for any indirect damages or business losses that the Subscriber may incur, such as, but not limited to, loss of data, loss of revenue, or business interruption.
Maintenance and Stability: The Publisher makes reasonable efforts to ensure the optimal operation of its Services; however, it cannot guarantee that they will be compatible with all hardware, free from malfunctions or errors, accessible at all times, suited to the needs of all Users, or compliant with their requirements. In particular, the Publisher cannot be held liable for interruptions due to circumstances beyond its control, including but not limited to force majeure.
New Features: The use of new features offered by the Publisher may be subject to additional fees or require an upgrade to a higher subscription tier. The Publisher reserves the right to determine the roadmap and is under no obligation to develop specific new features or services requested by a User or Subscriber.
Early Bat Program: The benefits promised to participants in the “Early Bat” program (including the free desktop app for one year) are contingent upon the actual availability of the relevant features. In the event the project is discontinued or undergoes a major change, the Publisher will endeavor to offer equivalent compensation but cannot be held to a guarantee of specific results.
Updates: The Publisher reserves the right to make any updates, additions, changes, etc., to the Services that it deems necessary and appropriate, with or without notice to the User.
Content: The Publisher makes every effort to ensure that the information provided through its Services is accurate and up-to-date, but such information may contain errors. The Publisher reserves the right to remove, filter, or modify any User content without notice if it contains illegal or offensive language, private information about third parties, promotions or advertisements, viruses or other harmful elements, or any other content deemed inappropriate. The Publisher is not responsible for user content or for any loss or damage that user content may cause to others. In the event that a User fails to fulfill their obligations to the Publisher, the Publisher may be required to remove content that is clearly illegal or inappropriate, suspend access to the Services, or delete the Account of a User engaging in prohibited behavior. In general, the Publisher may be required to take any appropriate action in response to the observed breach.
Pricing: The Publisher may decide to increase or decrease prices at any time, introduce new pricing tiers, or switch free Services to paid Services. Affected Subscribers or Users may be notified by email or through the App before the changes take effect. They will then have the option to terminate this Agreement and stop using the Service.
Customer Service: The Publisher provides technical support to its Subscribers and participants in the Early Bat program via the forum or by email. Users without a Subscription may contact the Publisher only by email. Support for these users will be provided on a secondary basis compared to that for Subscribers. The Publisher is not required to respond to all requests but strives to offer the most comprehensive and effective service possible. The Publisher has no obligation regarding response times or results.
Indemnification: The Publisher’s liability to the User, in the event of a violation of the Terms of Service, negligence, or any other breach, is limited to the amount of fees paid by the Subscriber during the relevant billing period, capped at the last twelve months.
Service Availability: The Services may not be available in all countries and may be limited to certain areas. The Publisher makes no commitment regarding the availability of the Services in the event of a major incident or bug.
8. Intellectual Property
The Application is free software released under the GNU General Public License v3.0. The User agrees not to install, copy, or use this software until he or she has accepted the terms and conditions of said license.
The Site is the exclusive property of the Publisher. Access to the Site does not confer any intellectual property rights. It is not permitted to copy, reproduce, modify, transmit, publish, or adapt, on any medium or by any means whatsoever, nor to exploit in any way, all or part of the Site or its content without the Publisher’s prior written consent.
The forum at https://forum.the-gate.fr offers Users the opportunity to post and exchange opinions and information. The Publisher does not filter, edit, publish, or review comments prior to their publication. These exchanges do not reflect the views or opinions of the Publisher. To the extent permitted by applicable laws, the Publisher shall not be liable for comments or for any liability, damages, or expenses caused and/or incurred as a result of any use and/or publication and/or appearance of comments on this platform. The User warrants that they hold the necessary licenses and consents for the content they share. Their content does not infringe upon any intellectual property rights, including, without limitation, the copyright, patent, or trademark of any third party.
9. Changes to the Terms of Use
The Publisher reserves the right to modify these Terms of Use at any time. Any updates will be posted on this page, along with the date of the most recent revision. Subscribers are free to cancel their subscription if they do not agree with the new terms.
10. Data Protection
Personal data collected in connection with the use of the App, the Website, or the purchase of a Subscription is processed in accordance with the Publisher’s Privacy Policy, available at https://the-gate.fr/confidentialite. This Policy details, in particular:
The nature of the data collected and the purposes for which it is used;
The third-party service providers used (Stripe for payments, web hosting providers) and their locations;
The data retention period;
The User’s rights (access, correction, erasure, portability, objection) and the procedures for exercising them.
Users may exercise their rights or ask questions about the processing of their data at any time by writing to contact@the-gate.fr.
11. Disputes
In the event of a dispute regarding the interpretation or enforcement of these Terms and Conditions, the User is encouraged to contact the Publisher’s customer service department (contact@the-gate.fr) to seek an amicable resolution. The parties will do their best to resolve the dispute and reach an agreement. If the parties are unable to reach an agreement within 90 days of the filing of the claim, the dispute may be brought before the Commercial Court of Toulouse.
12. Governing Law
These Terms of Service are governed by French law.
If the User is located in a country other than the one in which the Services are provided, the Subscriber remains responsible for complying with local laws and agrees to indemnify the Publisher in the event of any failure to comply with such laws.
If any provision of these Terms of Service is deemed illegal, void, or unenforceable, the provision in question shall automatically be deemed replaced by a valid and enforceable provision that most closely reflects the intent of the original provision. Furthermore, the provision in question shall be deemed severable from the Terms of Service and shall not affect the validity and enforceability of the remaining provisions.
